Malaysia’s biggest fashion event of the year

The Stylo Fashion Grand Prix KL 2010 (KL stands for Kuala Lumpur) is back for its third edition.

It’s Malaysia’s biggest fashion event of the year and features over seventy fashion designers and more than one hundred artists of all backgrounds.

The show runs for eight days from March 25th. The chosen location is by the very popular official Malaysian F1 Grand Prix race track which gives a chic and sport touch to the show.

The fashion show’s theme this year is: Fashion to Art and Art to Fashion: The deadly sins..

What’s so special about it?
The Islamic Fashion Festival takes place during the fashion GP. Also, to foster new talents in the fashion industry, Mercedes Benz sponsors the now famous avant-garde fashion competition: Mercedes Benz Stylo emerging designer of the year.

On top of the finale being held at the Mercedes Petronas F1 tent, the official venues include the pavillion KL, the national Art gallery and the Asian heritage row.

Who is your fashion designer?

Who is your fashion designer? H&M clothes are now designed by a famous singer (Madonna’s clothing line at H&M). Her clothing brand is simply called M and will be in stores next month.

She is the latest celeb to launch her clothing line. Now that all famous singers and actress have launched their own clothing line, it seems increasingly diificult for young fashion designers to make a name for themselves.

If you are not famous but intend to run your own clothing line, then you are in for trouble, unless of course you benefit from a fashion angel helping you out.

Another solution would be to own your distribution channel. This can be is an heavy investment in brick and mortar but can be built easily online through networking with blogs written by popular fashion designers.

Conclusion: To run a successful business such as a popular clothing brand and to become a famous fashion designer, you may need to become famous first, and a designer later!
